Traditional dosing charts provide rough estimates based on pool volume alone. Our calculator uses polynomial equations and molecular-weight-based formulas that account for multiple interacting variables. For example, pH dosing considers not just current pH and pool volume, but also total alkalinity (buffering capacity) and borate levels—factors that significantly affect how much chemical is actually needed.
The calculator uses industry-standard chemistry formulas with molecular-weight-based conversion factors. All calculations are validated against known chemistry principles and protected by 199 automated tests that verify accuracy across a wide range of scenarios. Input validation ensures readings fall within scientifically valid ranges, preventing erroneous results from invalid data.
Rather than using a fixed chlorine target, you can configure the calculator to set the FC target as a percentage of the CYA (stabilizer) level. For example, setting “10% of CYA” means a pool with 50 ppm CYA would target 5 ppm FC, while a pool with 80 ppm CYA would target 8 ppm FC. This follows best practices that recommend maintaining FC proportional to CYA for optimal sanitization.
Yes. The calculator provides recommendations, but technicians can adjust amounts based on field conditions. An edit modal allows manual entry of actual quantities applied, which are then saved to the service record.
